Founding Director Dies

Viola Marie Carlson ~ Age 93 ~ Died peacefully on January 14, 2012. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Milford Carlson; parents John Albert and Violet Minda Nordstrom; and brother, Albert Dean Nordstrom. She is survived by her twin sister Alberta Ruth Pearson and sister Lillybelle Arnold; her 3 children, Elizabeth Miller, Miriam Larson (Philip), and John Carlson (Lois); her 4 grandchildren, Lara (Michael), Birgit (Chris), Ursula, and Sarah; and 5 great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emily, Zachary, Kiran and Rory. Viola's life revolved around her family, her friends and her faith. In 1946 she and Milford joined Central Baptist Church St. Paul and, starting in the mid 50's, attended the First Baptist Church, Cook MN during the summer months when at the "stuga." In 1950 Viola was the founding director of Central's pre-school, now Central Childcare, which was the first in the state. Viola was kind, resourceful, quick to smile, and quick to laugh. She lived a life full of tolerance and gratitude. She will be greatly missed. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, January 27th at 2:00 PM at Central Baptist Church, 420 Roy St. N., St. Paul. Memorials preferred to Central Child Care or the Children's Shelter of Cebu.
