One of the great privileges I have as the pastor of Central Baptist Church is the opportunity to learn from many women and men in our congregation who have gone before me in the ministry and who have shared their wisdom and experience with me. One of the servants who I have deeply benefited from is Dr. Clarence Bass. Clarence has been a valued resource for me on so many levels, both as a friend when I was on the faculty at Bethel, and also over the past five years as a mentor in the pastorate. Clarence has been a fount of wisdom and experience, and I must confess that hearing CLARENCE BASS call me his pastor is one of the great joys of my life!
Clarence’s ministry has impacted countless people all across the globe. As a pastor, professor, author, visiting professor, chair of the mission board of the BGC, and in numerous other capacities, Clarence has shared his wisdom and knowledge to women and men around the world. In doing some “guestimation” math, it has been determined that, over his career, Clarence Bass has spoken over 8,000 times as a preacher or lecturer. This Sunday at Central Baptist Church, the esteemed Dr. Bass will be preaching what he is calling his “final sermon.” I want to invite everyone to come and hear what God has put on his heart to communicate to the church family that he has called home for 63 years, and we invite any who aren’t a part of our congregation, but who know and love Clarence, to join us on this special day. Clarence will be preaching a message called “God Loves You. He Really Does” out of the book of Hosea. I can’t think of a better message from a man who embodies the core truth of the Gospel that “God is love.”
You are not going to want to miss this remarkable servant of God share this message. Please plan on being with us for our Sunday service at 10:30am. After the service we will have a reception that will include cake and coffee. Plan on staying afterward and interacting with Clarence and his family. See you Sunday!
