One warm summer day a tiny, determined, little snail began climbing an apple tree. As the little snail moved further up the tree, he was careful to dodge all the beautiful blossoms. Then, a voice called out him, “Don’t be silly! There’s absolutely no reason for you to climb that tree. There are simply no apples up there.” Looking around, he noticed a vocal and doubtful worm basking in the glow of the sun.
Returning his attention back to the task before him, he kept climbing and shouted back to the worm, “Maybe so, but there will by the time I get up there.”
Positive thinking and trust eventually filled the snails belly.
A great example of positive thinking was Noah. Remember, “God warned him about something that had never happened and yet, by faith, he built an ark to save his family.”
Perhaps no one in history experienced more ridicule and rejection for being different from his neighbors than Noah. God commanded him to build a huge boat in the middle of dry land. How absurd really! This certainly made no sense to him, or likely anybody else. God gave him instructions, and he followed them. It didn’t matter what everyone thought, said or how the perceived his actions of obedience. He simply did what God asked Him to do! And, although his behavior seemed strange to his neighbors, it made no difference to him. BUT....Being obedient to God did.
God often asks Christians to do things that seem strange to those who do not yet know Him. Being obedient to God can make what we do look odd, perhaps even weird, to those who do not know the Lord. However, whenever God asks us to do something – even strange - He also gives us the gift of courage to overcome the scorn of the skeptics to succeed.
Prayer: Help us, Lord, to keep our eyes solely on You and on what You call us to do. Gift us courage, patience, trust and help us to use our faith and persistence to do what You call us to do and never waiver. Amen!
It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before. By his faith Noah condemned the rest of the world, and he received the righteousness that comes by faith. Hebrews 11:7
